Our Purpose
Our team has made a difference in the lives of patients and families facing a terminal illness by assisting them with their own unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Our clinical staff uses various methods of symptom management and pain control, creating a holistic approach that allows the patient to remain as active and in control of their lives as possible. We have a dedicated team working on behalf of the patient and their family, including physicians, registered nurses, social workers, and hospice aides, along with spiritual and bereavement counselors.

Our Mission
We provide Central Oregonians with high-quality care wherever they call home, focusing on heartfelt support and guidance throughout their healthcare journey and at the end of life.

Our History
ClearPath Healthcare, formerly Hospice of Redmond, began when a local nurse asked a friend to help care for her husband. He wanted to spend his final days at home rather than in the hospital. The friend had learned about end-of-life care in medical school in the 1960s and visited St. Christopher’s, the first hospice, in London. After the nurse’s husband passed, it became clear Central Oregon needed another option besides hospital care at the end of life.
In 1979, community members, including surgeon Dr. Marinus Koning, the Director of the Central Oregon Community Action Agency Network, and the Director of Nursing at Central Oregon District Hospital, came together to start Hospice of Redmond. It was one of 26 federal “demonstration programs” designed to study what hospice care should include and its cost-effectiveness. At first, Hospice of Redmond was run entirely by volunteers and served six patients each month.
Hospice of Redmond became a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 1981 and has helped thousands over the past four decades in Central Oregon. As an independent, Medicare-certified nonprofit, we proudly serve Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties, including Redmond, Bend, Sisters, Tumalo, Powell Butte, Prineville, Terrebonne, Crooked River Ranch, Madras, and surrounding areas.
In December 2025, Hospice of Redmond rebranded as ClearPath Healthcare to reflect its broader mission as a trusted healthcare partner beyond the end of one’s life.
The name ClearPath shows our commitment to:
- Clarity: We provide clear options and guidance through complex health situations.
- Continuity: We offer seamless coordinated care, from wellness and prevention to comfort and support.
- Compassion: We continue to provide the high standards of caring support you have trusted for decades.
In April 2026, ClearPath Healthcare began offering in-home primary care to help more older adults in Central Oregon who have trouble visiting doctors at traditional clinics.
Many families come to us through personal referrals because of our long-standing commitment to the community. Our dedication and excellent training of staff and volunteers make ClearPath Healthcare a trusted resource for people facing some of life’s most difficult times.
Today, ClearPath Healthcare employs more than 33 staff members. We offer end-of-life services through hospice care and bereavement counseling. We also offer a free Transitions program for people not yet ready for hospice, as well as wellness services through our in-home primary care program.
