We Honor Veterans

Veterans Healthcare and Hospice Provider

Are you a veteran or do you have a loved one who is a veteran in need of hospice care? ClearPath Healthcare can help. We are a veteran hospice service provider in Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Terrebonne, Prineville, and Madras, OR.

Through our Serving Those Who Served program, we consider it an honor and a privilege to care for our nation’s heroes. Our team is highly experienced and trained to deliver a greater quality of care for both veterans and their loved ones.

We acknowledge, recognize, and appreciate the service and sacrifice of the veterans we serve. Our staff and volunteers receive ongoing training so they understand the unique challenges veterans face and the kind of care that honors their service.

Why Veterans Need Specialized Hospice Support

Military service shapes how a person experiences illness, pain, and the end of life. Combat exposure, moral injury, and decades of carrying memories that civilians do not share can surface in profound ways during a serious illness. Our team is trained to listen for those moments and to provide care that honors the whole veteran, not just the diagnosis.

We work with caregivers to understand a veteran’s service history, branch and era, and any benefits the veteran or surviving family members may be entitled to. We also coordinate with VA partners and local Veteran Service Organizations when that is the right path for a family.

Our Veterans’ Hospice Program

Our veterans outreach team built Serving Those Who Served because the men and women who served our country deserve specialized hospice care, recognition, and community. Veterans are a priority at ClearPath Healthcare. Throughout the year, we host veterans-specific events and continually invest in training so our care reflects the depth of their service.

Turn to us if you want the veteran in your family to receive quality hospice care and to be honored for their service. We provide compassionate care, express gratitude in many ways, and offer programs for both veterans and their families. We support veterans during this crucial time through hospice care, bereavement support, and community programs that honor their service. We understand veterans’ unique challenges and needs.

Vet-to-Vet Conversations

Veterans often connect best with other veterans. Our Vet-to-Vet Conversations bring veterans together inside Central Oregon senior living communities for coffee, conversation, and the kind of camaraderie that comes from shared service. The cafes are free and open to veteran residents in participating communities. We are actively recruiting more veteran volunteers to expand this program. If you are a veteran who would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you.

Vietnam Veterans Day Welcome Home

Many Vietnam-era veterans returned home without the recognition they earned. Each year, on or around National Vietnam Veterans Day in late March, we host a Welcome Home event that gives our community the chance to say what should have been said decades ago. Vietnam veterans, their families, and supporters are all welcome.

Pinning Ceremonies

A veteran pinning ceremony is a moment of recognition that ClearPath staff offers to veteran hospice patients, often at the bedside or in a setting that holds meaning for the veteran. The pin is a thank you, a witness, and a record of service.

Our Veteran Hospice Resources

As a veteran hospice provider, we offer a wide range of resources for veterans and families. These resources include:

  • Connection to county Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) for service-related disabilities through the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Resources in the community
  • Flag lines at veteran funerals
  • Flag pinning for hospice patients
  • Support for family survivors of a patient

“A life of service”

I was born in Kennett, Missouri July 14, 1926 to a mom who worked in a shirt factory and got a nickel for every shirt she ironed and a dad who was a logger. At 15 I moved to Alabama where I worked machinist and welder jobs, attending the National Youth Association (NYA) Finishing school outside of Mobile. The skills I gained from that school allowed me to work in a shipyard until 1942 when I decided to move to Phoenix, Arizona. I moved around a lot as a kid,…
